Description:  Explore Classes are like mini camps. They are short units designed to allow students to try new things for a short amount of time; whetting their curiosity to new ideas or activities – or circle back to something they really liked. Every semester offers a variety of subjects and activities.

2026-2027

Semester 1

  • CREATION: ANIMALIA: Whether they walk, crawl, or swim, we're going to study the 5 Animal Kingdoms.

  • CLASSROOM CONQUEST: In the game world, you might know this as the game of Risk. Will your country survive and conquer the world?

  • SCIENCE FAIR: (This class will have homework!) How does temperature impact the activity of ants? Which paper airplane design flies the farthest? What do you wonder about? We're going to turn your science questions into a science project at home. In class, we will discuss the scientific method and set clear goals to keep the project on track. At the end of 5 weeks, we will have a science fair at CHAT to show off what we learned and share it with others!

Semester 2

  • NOT CRINGE CRAFTS: Mrs. Beil has some sick projects planned - don't miss it!

  • LEGO CHALLENGE: Similar to the TV show Lego Masters, students will be given a task to solve each week.

  • GROSS HISTORY: Did they really do that? A little bit of history, a little bit of science, and a lot of wrinkled noses when you find out some of the gross things people did way back in history.

Tutor: Kristi Beil is a licensed K-6 teacher and thought she would spend her career teaching in the public school system - but God had a different plan for her and her family. Kristi never considered the possibility of homeschooling her four children, but she did! After 16 years of homeschooling, her children are all graduated and now she continues teaching children and guiding other homeschool parents on their journey to educate their kids. Mrs. Beil has taught all ages of kids, in all manner of homeschool co-ops. Her natural curiosity, play, and love of learning bring her classes to life.
