CHAT Student Council

If you are a CHAT student in grades 9-12 and you would like to get involved in student government, we invite you to apply to be a member of the student council!  Read through the information on this page and then click on the application button at the bottom to apply.

The purpose of the student council is to give students an opportunity to develop leadership skills by organizing and carrying out school activities and service projects. In addition to planning events that contribute to school spirit, the student council is the voice of the student body.

Student Council expectations:

  • Be an active participant at student council meetings.
  • Have a willingness to serve and work with others.
  • Help create a welcoming and positive environment at CHAT.
  • Must attend CHAT for both semesters.

Requirements for Applying:

  • Must have parent permission.
  • Complete the online application.

 

Officer Positions

You can apply to be a general student council member or apply for one of the student council offices.  Below are the responsibilities of each office.

President:

  • Represent the CHAT student body.
  • Lead the student council meetings.
  • Work with the Vice President to set meeting agendas.
  • Act as facilitator during student council discussions.
  • Maintain frequent communication with CHAT directors.
  • Participate in student council sponsored events and activities.

Vice-President:

  • Serve in the absence or need of the President.
  • Work with the President to set meeting agendas.
  • Participate in student council sponsored events and activities.

Secretary:

  • Keep accurate meeting minutes and attendance for all student council meetings.
  • Report minutes of previous meetings.
  • Be responsible for managing student council records and files.
  • Handle student council correspondence.
  • Participate in student council sponsored events and activities.

Treasurer:

  • Maintain financial records of the student council.
  • Present a financial report at each student council meeting.
  • Make payments for approved purchases.
  • Participate in student council sponsored events and activities.
